Drama Project - Too Much Punch For Judy

Before I rush off to my friend's house for a sleepover, I thought I would upload an unlisted video to my YouTube channel to give you a sneak peek of what I've been up to at school.

Basically, we have been doing this play called "Too Much Punch For Judy" about this woman who kills her sister in a car crash due to drink driving (as you can tell, it's pretty serious stuff). We were allowed to interpret this play any way we wanted and present whichever parts of it we wanted in our performance.

Because this play is set in the 80s, I thought it would be interesting to modernise the play so that the audience would have a stronger connection with the characters, as I wanted them to be pulled into Judy's world, although originally the play was meant to alienate the audience. I suppose I just wanted a bit of a challenge.

One way I was set on doing this was using YouTube videos. People at my school don't know about my YouTube channel unless they're my close friends, so originally the video diary was on a separate channel that was reserved just for the video diary. However, seeing as I thought it might be interesting for you to see this (and I haven't been able to film any YouTube videos in a while!) I decided to post this on my regular channel.

The video is unlisted because it is not something I would usually post, so you will only be able to see the video if you have the link.

The first thing that you will probably spot if you watch my YouTube videos is that I have a new camera (WHOOP WHOOP!). I got it for my birthday, although I haven't been able to show you it yet as I have been busy, which sucks. Though now you have an idea of what future YouTube videos are going to look like :)

I have to admit that it's really not the best acting ever. Obviously it is hardly believable as Judy is a grown woman with a proper job and a kid, and I am a 15 year old schoolgirl, but I tried my best.

You will find that there is a weird little cut in the middle of the video were I have cut out where I say my location, as I really don't want anyone on the internet to figure out where I live.

I have really got to get a move on now because I am writing this while I am halfway through packing to go to my friends house. I am looking forward to writing more blog posts and making more YouTube videos during the Easter holidays, as I have a few ideas that have been waiting in my notepad for me to bring to life.

I hope you have had a wonderful start to your holiday,
Lucy x

Best Blogging Buddies Award (no.1 and 2)

I'd just like to give big thank-yous to Eve of Pen&Key as well as Georgia of This Teenage Blogger for nominating me for this award! :) That's really awesome of both of you <3

The Rules:
  • Make a post to show the award on your main blog.
  • Thank the person who nominated you and take the owl with you!
  • Nominate all your best buddies, and the people you want to be buddies with.
  • Ask at least 15 questions for the buddies you nominate.
  • Answer the questions your buddies has asked for you.
Now to answer all 30 of your questions (wow!!).
Eve's Questions:

1) Favourite sweets?
This one's kinda weird, but I have a slight addiction to Turkish Delight (the sweets, not the traditional kind) in that it is completely weird and not many people like it that much but I think it's AWESOME.

2) Write a sentence describing a moment of your childhood
The 9-year-old girl with the blonde hair sat screaming "YOU'RE A LIAR" at the boy who had just told her that Father Christmas didn't exist (the nerve of some people!!).

3) Something you learned recently, related to your school curriculum
If you get hiccups literally minutes before an exam, you'd better get rid of them quick. (I did manage to in the end!)

4) Favourite breakfast cereal?
I am kind of stuck between Cheerios and sultana bran (again, it's not very popular but I really like it!).

5) Favourite clothing brand?
Probably H&M :)

6) Favourite makeup brand?
Bourjois

7) If you had to live in another era, when would you live?
This one's quite weird, because I quite like the era we live in. Like, we have the internet and Taylor Swift and stuff. However, I think it would be quite fun to live in the 60s, because that's when Hairspray is set and I have quite a lot to say on equality and stuff.
(I know, stupid answer!)

8) What would want to have on hand in a zombie apocalypse, you have 5 items
OH GOD I AM SUCH A GENERALLY UNPREPARED PERSON.
Although this means I would technically be copying Georgia, I would want some kind of "How To Survive a Zombie Apocalypse" guide. I think a Kindle would be quite handly; although I don't like them very much, I would be able to have my Apocalypse Guide and all the books I wanted on it (who needs self defence when you have Maze Runner?!). In this case, I would also need a charger handy.
Either that or I would hide in a library or book shop until the whole zombie apocalypse thing blew over!

9) Flying or sailing
Sailing

10) Early to bed and early to rise, or lie in and stay up until 3 in the morning?
Early to rise.

HAHAHAHAHA - just kidding, lie-ins all the way!

11) Favourite hobbying besides internetting?
Reading, writing or acting (I seriously can't pick one!).

12) What's your superpower, and would you use it for good or evil?
I would love to read minds, because then I would know who everyone fancied would be able to set them up...
Invisibility also seems cool though, as then I would be able to do whatever I wanted without people noticing...
I've literally just realised that both answers are literally the creepiest/sneakiest responses ever.

13) Biggest nightmare or fear?
Someone close to me getting in serious trouble - this literally scares me out of my mind.

14) If you could play God and change an aspect of humanity, what would you change?
I would make it so that people were judged instantly by their personalities and not by their labels (e.g. sexuality, race or any other aspect of their appearance). I think this would solve so many of the World's problems as we would not longer have prejudice or people who are scared of being who they are due to a certain aspect of themselves. Also, no one would be scared of what other people thought of their appearance as no one would care.
As you can probably tell, I think about this a lot.

15) Do you like trying new foods? What's the most bizarre thing you've tried? Did you like it?
As I mentioned in my last life-update, I recently went out for dinner with two of my friends as it was one of my friends' birthdays. The restaurant served up these random little starters and I ended up eating squid! I quite liked it, though this probably means that I failed as a pescetarian as it was not technically fish - oh well, it was interesting, and it's not everyday you're given the opportunity to try squid!

Georgia's Questions:

1) If you were to blog about something you'd never blogged about before, what would it be?
I would probably do a really fashion-y blog post, just because I've never really focused on clothes or makeup before in a blog post!

2) If you could be famous for one thing, what would you be famous for?
I would probably be a famous YouTuber, as I feel like YouTubers have a special connection with their fans that not many other celebrities do. Being famous on YouTube also presents lots of opportunities to people that I think would be really interesting.

3) If you have £100, what would you spend it on?
Probably books, chokers and various merch!

4) If you were given a YouTube channel, what would your first video be about?
I actually have a YouTube channel, and my first video was "50 Facts About Me", haha :)
It's definitely not my best video, especially since I can barely speak to the bloody camera, but it's the first one that was ever uploaded to my channel!

5) Radio or TV Channel?
I'm not sure what is meant by this question, but my favourite TV Channel is E4.

6) Facebook or twitter?
Probably Facebook, as more of my friends are on Facebook, although in general I prefer tweeting to uploading Facebook statuses :)

7) What is your favourite item of jewellery?
CHOKERS :D I have this massive thing about chokers right now, they're just awesome!

8) If you could be anyone for a day, who would be be?
Probably someone who really inspires me, such as Taylor Swift :)

9) Rain or sun?
Sun, though only in small amounts - enough to keep me warm, but not boiling or anything!

10) Stay at home and do things, or go outside and do things?
I suppose it depends on whether I would have people with me, I don't really mind either way, though I don't like being at home all day with no one to speak to.

11) What shop do you most want to shop in?
There's this vintage shop in our local shopping centre that I love to pieces, though I have never actually bought anything from there! All the things are quite expensive, so I just tend to hang around in there and look at the clothes like a complete weirdo/stalker. I have no idea what the woman at the counter must think of me!

12) Do you like the little things in life, the big things in life or both?
The big things in life can be awesome, though a lot of the time it's just nice to appreciate the little things in life, like oreo milkshakes, music and just hanging out with friends :D

13) Do you like painting your nails bright or nude?
Bright colours can be fun, though I tend to chip and smudge nail-varnish a lot, so I usually just paint my nails with clear nail-varnish.

14) Write a sentence describing your dream future life
I am living with a few friends, I write novels, act and own lots and lots of cats!

15) What are your top 3 websites?
YouTube, twitter and Tumblr :)

So those were my 30 questions! I think I need to go have a lie-down, haha!

As many of you have probably come to realise, by the time I get these awards, all the blogs I follow have already been nominated and have tagged me, so I have no one to tag for this one. I mean, could tag Maya from ohemgeeitsmaya, but then she would have, like, 3 awards to do (adding up to 45 questions), and that would just be a bit mean!

Speak to you soon,
Lucy x

Two birthdays in two weeks (life update)

Hey guys :)

I'm sorry that I haven't been blogging or uploading videos much recently - this post is kind of an explanation for why I haven't had much time to do things recently and just a kind of random update!

First thing's first ("I'm the realest" - sorry, force of habit), last week was the holidays, which for me means my birthday (WHOOP WHOOP!!!!).
I spent a lot of my holiday sleeping (which is very important if you're me) and planning for my party; something I actually remembered to organise this year.
Last year I kind of left everything to the last minute, by which time everyone's schedule was packed and I had to arrange a different date for people to come round.

*
I'd also like to thank everyone who sent me birthday messages, it means a lot! <3
(a special thank you to Eve for pointing out that I am now halfway-to-30 ...WHAAAATTT)
*

My birthday usually falls in the holidays, which has its ups and its downs. It's great to wake up in the knowledge that you won't have to revise algebra on your birthday, though it kind of sucks to have so many of your friends on holiday at the same time.
This year, I invited about 10 people and only 5 people managed to make it, which wasn't ideal, but it was fine in the end. I was worrying before that the lack of people might mean that people got bored and no one would have anything to talk about, though I think that sometimes I forget just how talkative my friends are! We never really run out of things to talk about, even if we end up talking about something utterly stupid and pointless.

I also kind of like not being in a big group. I'm not introverted or anything, but I've been to a few parties where there were massive amounts of people, topped with overpowering music, dimmed and flashing lights, shouting and just so many stimulating things. For me, it all kind of gets a bit too much and I can end up feeling anxious and need a sit down.

It's not that I don't appreciate being invited to parties like these - I actually think it helps to push myself into these kinds of situations sometimes - and for the majority of them I am having a fantastic time, it's just nice to have a change once in a while.
I have discovered over the years that I am much more of a talking and opinion-sharing person than a dancing person!

I loved the party, regardless of the number of people there - I hardly noticed when it was almost over! We probably spent most of the time looking back at old childhood videos and pictures of ourselves, as many of us there came from the same primary school and love to reminisce. Some of the most interesting videos were from when we decided to start a group YouTube channel a year or two ago with some of the cringiest content ever known to man. We also discovered that we had all forgotten to delete the channel, so all of the horrific videos are still online for everyone to see, and we appear to have forgotten the password to the email account (oops).
Two of my friends also stayed round for a sleepover after everyone had gone, which was really fun. The thing is with my friends is that when we say "sleepover", we really mean watching Maze Runner until the early hours of the morning, and then internally screaming over Maze Runner fan-fiction #sorrynotsorry

After my birthday, the holidays flew by, and suddenly we were back at school again. I didn't really mind though, as one of my best friends' birthdays lands a week and a day after mine, so we had that to look forward to!
After a long week of school, it was finally Friday and I dressed up to go out for dinner with my friends to celebrate her birthday, took way too many selfies (if there were ever such a thing), then stayed round her house for a sleepover.
One of my favourite things about my friends, apart from never running out of things to say, is the deep late-night conversations.
You can learn a lot of things about a person at 2 o'clock in the morning. Our conversations never fail to amaze me, and I love that.

Another thing I wanted to mention during this update is the fact that I have started writing a story that I have been thinking through quite a bit since the idea first came to me. I have just finished the first chapter of it and I am quite proud of what I have done so far, though I am still not sure whether I want to share the story with the internet or not. I haven't posted a story of mine online since I posted a Hunger Games fan fiction on wattpad around two years ago, and I am kind of nervous about sharing my new story idea.
I don't know, I'd just like an opinion :)

I kind of need to go now because it is getting pretty late, but I think I have just about covered everything I wanted to. My next blog post will probably be the "Best Blogging Buddies Award", which I was very kindly tagged for by Eve of Pen&Key, though I can't guarantee that it will be posted any time soon as I have mock-exams next week, so my head will be buried in various textbooks over the next five days *groans*

Thanks for reading my jumbled mess of a blog post, I will (hopefully) speak to you soon,
Lucy x

Infinity Dreams Award

Can I just start this post of by expressing my love for the name of this award? Seriously, it is definitely the best-named award I have ever received! :)
Thanks for the nomination Eve (Pen & Key)! If you haven't seen her blog before, I would definitely check it out, her posts are awesome! :D

Rules for this award:
1) Thank and follow the blog that has nominated you
2) Tell us 11 facts about yourself
3) Answer the questions that were set for you
4) Nominate 11 bloggers and set questions for them

11 Facts About Me

1) I like seeing other people's nail art, but I refuse to do anything with my nails because I honestly can't be bothered and I find it impossible to take care of my nails after painting them!

2) When I was a toddler, I scared my Grandma when we were out shopping by not being able to say the word "frog", and accidentally saying the f-word (oops).

3) My pet-peeve is when people chew with their mouth open *shudders*

4) I am on the last Maze Runner book at the moment (seriously, can't they just give Thomas a bloody break?!)

5) I will be 15 in two days!!! (WHOOP WHOOP)

6) I love love love book shops, but never end up buying anything because I know that things will probably be cheaper on the internet. Although I know that I can get the books elsewhere, it KILLS ME to leave without them...

7) I have an obsession with Adventure Time, and my school bag is literally Jake. It is also reversible so that when you turn it inside out, you can also have a Finn bag (not that I have tried this out yet, as that would mean emptying my school bag, which would be an impossible task!).

8) When I was a baby, I was SUPER blonde - the older I get, the darker my hair gets. I don't think I will ever be a brunette though.

9) My dream is to be a cat-lady. I think that would be really fun!

10) I have recently bought Sia's album "1000 Forms of Fear", and I can't stop listening to it. It is becoming a serious problem.

11) I can't use heat on my hair - it actually makes it worse! My hair is naturally straight, and if I use straighteners then my hair turns frizzy (because that makes complete sense!).

Eve's Questions...

1) What do you like about blog awards?
No matter how time-consuming they are to write, I still enjoy writing and reading blog awards as they give you a proper chance to get to know a blogger in terms of their opinions, past, hobbies, etc., and I think that's really interesting (although this is probably the most clichéd answer ever!).

2) Name one destination you want to visit, and one you don't.
One destination I definitely want to visit is Venice, because it just generally seems awesome and really beautiful.
One place I wouldn't really want to visit regularly is New York. I have been there before, and don't get me wrong, it was a wonderful experience! I'm not taking anything for granted, I just didn't really like the atmosphere with all the people and the weather.

3) If you've already decided your future job, what's your backup? If you haven't, what's your dream job?
I'm not sure about what I'll do in the future other than that I want to write or act. I would love to write novels and stories - the idea of that really excites me! I also love acting, and I feel like acting has helped me with confidence so much, especially over the past few years. Acting as a living sounds amazing.
The thing is that both jobs require a backup, but I don't actually have any other ideas for jobs. They would have to back up each other, I guess.

4) What are you never without?
I am usually never without my watch, but then I lost it, which is painfully ironic. It is probably hiding somewhere deep in my school bag...

5) What is your favourite film or film series?
Mean Girls will probably be my all-time favourite movie, as it just never gets old!

6) Who is your favourite author, and what is your favourite book of theirs?
My favourite author is probably Suzanne Collins, as she wrote The Hunger Games series, and you literally can't get any cooler than that!
Catching Fire is probably my favourite book in the series, as it includes the biggest amount of Peeta Mellark, and you can never have too much Peeta Mellark in one book!

7) What is your prized possession?
I have no idea really. I got a certificate for a drama exam I passed recently, and I suppose I'd be pretty upset if I managed to lose that!
I'm also pretty sure "my phone" doesn't count as an answer, as it has no sentimental value, but I would also be extremely upset if I lost that!

8) What toppings are on your ideal pizza?
I'm gonna be really awkward now and say that I wouldn't really want any toppings on my ideal pizza! This time last year I would have probably had a good answer, but since then I have become a pescetarian and I would rather not have anything on the pizza.

9) What is your favourite blog post of yours?
Some of my favourite posts are advice blog posts, though my favourite post of mine is probably my "I'm so shy." blog post, because it gave me a chance to open up about a problem I had been having and I felt like I got a really positive response. Honestly, I didn't think that anyone would understand my problem and would dismiss the post altogether!

10) Pick a YouTuber to live with (not romantically)
I'm glad that Eve added "not romantically", or this post would seem incredibly awkward and I wouldn't really be sure how to answer it without sounding really creepy!
I think that living and just being friends with Dan and Phil sounds really fun, though I would be uncomfortable living with two guys and then just me, haha.
However awesome both of them are, I definitely don't think I would be able to live with Joe Sugg and Caspar Lee - I've seen Joe's latest video and I think that in that particular situation, I would value sleep over friendship!!

11) Age old question, which came first, the chicken or the egg?
Seriously, this question...?
The egg, obviously. Dinosaurs were alive before chickens anyway! #logic

As I have mentioned in previous award blog posts, I have a limited friendship group when it comes to blogging, so I have no one to tag for this!

*cue despairingly dramatic music*

I think my problem is that everyone who I would tag has already been tagged for the award by the time I get round to writing the blog post, and I am too nice to tag the same person twice as it means double the questions!
(not that I would mind being tagged twice personally, I just don't like bombarding people with questions)

Sunday, 15 February 2015

I am so ready for half term.

Hey guys!
I hope you had a wonderful Valentines Day, regardless of whether you are in a relationship or not, because your happiness matters more than your relationship status!
Personally, I spent my Valentines Day having a sleepover at my friend's house, because all of us there didn't really care about the whole "Valentines Day" thing, and just felt like eating a chocolate orange while watching "The Maze Runner" (which is simply amazing, by the way).

I feel like people are put under too much stress when it comes to Valentines Day though. Like, if you're in a relationship, I hope you're happy and you have a lovely time. And if you're single, then so what? I would much rather be single at comfortable with my relationship status than force myself into a relationship where I don't really feel anything towards the other person.
Sorry, I just needed to get that off my chest. Mini-rant over.

So I've had a kind of stressful week, partly because of rushed course work (that I think turned out alright in the end) and partly because of some other stuff that I'm almost definitely not allowed to mention online - don't worry though, I'm fine now!

But how are you? I feel like as soon as it comes to the end of school, everyone gets kind of tired and moody. I don't think this ever really happens to me, but I am usually surrounded with irritable people just before the holidays and I think it's easy to feel like you're treading on eggshells during the last week.
It's also quite hard to remember to be nice and especially polite during the last week when you are just counting down the days until the holidays and internally groaning for 5 days. Don't get me wrong, school itself isn't bad or anything (after having the flu recently, school seemed heavenly!) - I am definitely not complaining about my school. I just feel like everyone needed a break to relax.

Another reason why I get SO BLOODY EXCITED about the holidays this time every year is because my birthday is on the 19th of February, and this time I actually remembered to plan something for the occasion!
Basically, last year I waited until about two days before my actual birthday to plan things, and in the end it turned out that everyone was busy anyway, so I had to invite a few people round the day afterwards.
This year though, I was super organised and made invites and all that kind of stuff and UGH I CANNOT EVEN EXPLAIN HOW EXCITED I AM.

I am going to calm myself down now before I just start smashing the keyboard.

I will not announce the theme of the party in case I want to vlog parts of the party or blog about it afterwards, but I feel like I have picked a great theme and can't wait to show you my costume (as long as I can actually gather the correct stuff for it).
*crosses fingers*

What is it that you look forward to the most during the holidays? Tell me in the comments :)

Things I Like Most About Myself (tag)

Hey guys :3

So this is a kind of tag-type-thingy that I was nominated to do my +Layla Hopper (aka Laylatheawesome) - thanks Layla! :3
I have to say that this topic is one that I don't really think about much - I feel like most people focus mainly on what they don't like about themselves rather than those parts that they do. I really think that there should be more tags like this, because it's a really nice thing to think about!

Also, please don't call me "arrogant" or whatever just for listing the things I like about myself. I am allowed to love myself - I have every right to! I strongly believe that everyone has every right to love themselves, no matter their race, gender, sexuality etc.

So yeah, let's get going!

My favourite feature is probably my eyes. I like how they are lots of different colours in one colour. My friends say that they change colour depending on what mood I'm in (apparently blue is happy and grey is sad???). I don't believe them really, as I'm pretty sure that's impossible, but it's a nice thought!

I also like my creative side - I love to write and act, and recently I have discovered that a few people like reading what I write and watching me perform too! :)
I don't know - English is my favourite subject and I really love reading and writing, it makes me feel at ease, like it just comes naturally or something.
One day I think I might want to write a book of my own :)

I also think that I'm really empathetic, which has served me well in many situations, and not so well in others. For instance, I can put myself in someone else's shoes and understand them in depth in ways that not many other people can, but it also means that I can get too emotionally involved in things that should not matter so much to me... it also means that I cry at a lot of movies and books, even when I'm surrounded by many other people and it's really inconvenient!
Anyway, I think that over the years, my sense of empathy has taught me a lot about others, and has helped me to help other people too :)

Other things that I like about myself (though I don't know exactly why) are my hair and my ears.
I just think my hair is pretty cool, even if I don't really style it or anything... I have no idea what's going on with my ears though. They kind of look like elf-ears, and I just think that's pretty awesome! :P

Anywaayyy...
here is a picture of my face:

Thanks for reading :)
I nominate anyone who likes the whole idea of this tag and wants to try it out for themselves (so basically anyone who is interested!). I just think that it is really important to think about these things once in a while!

The Story of My Hair

My blog is in no way a beauty blog, but today I wanted to share something with you, and hopefully I will get some kind of response :)

When I was starting Year 7 (and I was 11 years old!) I decided I would try to grow my hair out.
Up until then, I had wavy mid-length(ish) hair - my hair would still be wavy now, but it is so heavy that it's just naturally straight!
But yeah, I don't really know what I was expecting when I decided to grow my hair out - knowing me, I probably wanted to look like Taylor Swift!
But anyway, yeah... 3 years later, this is what my hair looks like:

My hair has been in this style for a very long time now, and recently I have been thinking about whether or not there is something else I can do with it, just to make it a little more interesting or whatever...
One of the main reasons for this blog post is that I am getting a haircut tomorrow (a very rare occasion if you're like me, and can never be bothered with the whole haircut thing) and I am wondering what I should do with my hair, how much I should cut off, etc.

I don't know. I feel like I should be a bit more adventurous with my hair just because I can. Most of my friends have experimented with their hair in the past with drastic cuts and dyes, but I have always been really cautious and backed away from any kind of change to do with my hair.
This is mainly because of an unfortunate experience that took place when I was a kid in which I asked my mum if I could get my hair layered, and she decided to cut it herself using a tip she had learned off the internet.

WARNING: If someone on the internet tells you to tie your hair in a high ponytail and take the chop, DON'T DO IT.
Ugh - seriously, it was horrific. I even remember crying.
Just no

So yeah, I've never really done anything with my hair. Our school doesn't allow us to dye our hair any colours that are too unnatural (e.g. blue), and my hair doesn't really suit many colours.
When I was little, my hair was really blonde, but since then it's just been getting darker and darker, and I don't really think I would suit my old shade of blonde or anything.
I also don't think my hair would look any good short - I could never pull of Zoella's beautiful, daring new look!

What's your opinion? Should I keep my hair (vaguely) the length that it is, or should I be daring and cut it a bit shorter?
The only problem with my hair length is that it weighs a ton, meaning that it is practically impossible to style it into a ponytail!

I'm not exactly sure what this blog post was, but please tell me your opinion in the comments :)
